Marinara Sauce


Cristaldo's Pizza and Family Restaurant's Chris and Joanie Knight and made their Marinara Sauce.



Ingredients:

28 oz. can of Italian Plum Tomatoes,drained (reserve liquid)
2 Large Cloves Garlic, minced
3 T Olive Oil
2 Fresh Basil Leaves
1 T Chopped Italian Parsley
1 T Grated Romano Cheese
Fresh Ground Black Pepper to taste
Pinch of Oregano
Hot Pepper Flakes to taste
2 T Tomato Paste

Directions:

-In a medium saucepan add tomatoes, crushing them with your hand, or pulse in a food processor 3-4 times.
-Add the garlic, oil, basil, parsley, cheese, pepper, oregano and hot pepper.
-Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add a small amount of the reserved liquid if sauce seems too thick, or add tomato paste, a tablespoon at a time for thicker sauce. Cook 15 to 20 min. longer.
